Basketball Recap: Shenandoah Comes Up Short

Shenandoah was the 67-40 winner over Bellaire when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Shenandoah Zeps fell to the Bellaire Big Reds 76-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), the Zeps still had to take the loss.

Bellaire found their leader in sophomore Raekwon Pettigrew, who dropped a double-double with 41 points and ten boards. Pettigrew has become a key player for Bellaire: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 6-9 otherwise. Caleb Jewell was another key player, going 7-for-14 to rack up 24 points and six boards.

Shenandoah has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Bellaire, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-11.

Coming up, Shenandoah will head out to take on Malvern at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bellaire, they will face off against Harrison Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 22nd.
