Preview: Johns Creek Gladiators vs. Oglethorpe County Patriots
The Johns Creek Gladiators will head out on the road to face off against the Oglethorpe County Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Johns Creek has not done well against Blessed Trinity recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Johns Creek sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Blessed Trinity. That's two games straight that Johns Creek has won by exactly three points.
Oglethorpe County posted their biggest win since November 20, 2023 on Saturday. They really took it to Elbert County for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-42 win at home. Given Oglethorpe County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Elbert County is ranked 422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory (which was Johns Creek's third in a row) raised their record to 9-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Oglethorpe County, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
