Volleyball Recap: Maloney Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Glastonbury

Maloney faced Glastonbury in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Guardians. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Guardians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Maloney was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 25-18.

Wesley Colebrook paced Maloney's offense, picking up 32 kills. Colebrook got some help from Galo Cadena and his 44 assists. Derek Morgan controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Maloney pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Glastonbury, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.

Coming up, Maloney will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lewis Mills at 5:00 p.m. As for Glastonbury, they will head out to face off against Cheshire at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
