MaxPreps regional high school baseball rankings

New teams take over the No. 1 spot in the Northeast and Southwest.

The MaxPreps Regional Baseball Rankings had two new No. 1 teams last week in the Northeast and the Southwest.

Hollidaysburg moved up to No. 1 in the Northeast, replacing William Penn Charter, while Wakeland took over the top spot from Deer Creek in the Southwest.

The other No.1 teams remained the same as Huntington Beach is the top team in the West, Helena is the top team in the South and Jefferson City is the No. 1 team in the Midwest.

The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Baseball Computer Rankings. The team's record and computer rating are noted in the rankings. Numbers are current as of Tuesday.



The 50 states are divided into five regions as follows:

West: Hawaii, California, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Colorado.

Southwest: Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona.

South: Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia.

Midwest: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas.

Northeast: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia.



States not included: Montana and Wyoming (do not have baseball), Iowa (season is during the summer).
