Preview: Punxsutawney Chucks vs. Brookville Raiders
The Punxsutawney Chucks will be playing at home against the Brookville Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Punxsutawney had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Moniteau, posting a 49-6 win on the road. Given Punxsutawney's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Moniteau is ranked 501st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Landon Martz, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Beau Thomas was another key contributor, gaining 95 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Brookville had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They really took it to Karns City for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-14 victory at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Brookville had established a 20 point advantage.
Charlie Krug was a one-man wrecking crew for Brookville as he threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Krug, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-2.
Punxsutawney beat Brookville 21-13 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Brookville's Brayden Kunselman, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Punxsutawney to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
