Baseball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Find Success

While Cardinal Gibbons put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Neumann. The Chiefs walked away with a 5-0 win over the Celtics. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chiefs.

Brenden Trujillo made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other pitching news, Cardinal Gibbons got a great performance from Mike Ragusa as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Ragusa also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Chiefs are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-12 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Eddie Marshall was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Cardinal Gibbons' victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Neumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cardinal Gibbons will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Neumann, they will host Coral Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Celtics' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
