Basketball Recap: Prairie Takes a Loss

Prairie lost against Otis back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Prairie Mustangs and the Otis Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Prairie Mustangs falling 62-46. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 105th).

Leading Otis to victory were Charlie Kendrick and Mitchell Stivers. Kendrick went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to three steals and three blocks, while Stivers went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points and six assists. Those six assists gave Stivers a new career-high. Cambric Klinzmann was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Prairie's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Otis, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Prairie didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-41 victory against Briggsdale on the 4th. As for Otis, they will face off against Arickaree at 8:00 p.m. on February 7th. Otis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Arickaree likes a good challenge.
