Volleyball Game Preview: Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars vs. Westminster Academy Lions

The Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars will take on the Westminster Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Somerset Academy - Canyons turned things around against Atlantic Christian on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Sharks by a score of 3-1.

The victory didn't come easy: Atlantic Christian scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23.

Somerset Academy - Canyons found their leader in freshman Avery Wood, who had 12 kills and three aces. Those 12 kills set a new season-high mark for Wood. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara San Giovanni, who had 15 assists and two aces.

Somerset Academy - Canyons was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Westminster Academy duked it out with Parkridge Christian on Tuesday. The Lions blew past the Panthers 3-0. The contest marked the Lions' most dominant win of the season.

While Westminster Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-10, 25-23.

Somerset Academy - Canyons' victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Westminster Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
