Softball Recap: Serena Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kaneland, Serena was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Plano Reapers by a score of 7-3. The Huskers haven't had any issues with the Reapers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Serena let Jenna Setchell and Brynley Glade run wild. Setchell scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Glade scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Glade a new career-high in doubles (two). Maddie Young was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Serena's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Plano, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6-1.

Coming up, Serena will take on Seneca at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Huskers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Plano, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Harvard at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
