Baseball Recap: Kent City Starts Season with Win Against Lee

Kent City had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Lee Legends get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Thursday.

Zach Flegel made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Flegel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Aaron Vanderwest was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Sammy Anderson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Coming up, Kent City will venture away from home to face off against Hesperia at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lee, they will host Fennville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
