Baseball Recap: Morenci Takes Down St. John Paul II Catholic in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Morenci walked away with it. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Anthony Roybal was a standout: he went 2-for-6 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Morenci: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 12-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Lopez, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory got Morenci back to even at 14-14. As for St. John Paul II Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

As of now, neither Morenci nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
