Basketball Game Preview: Newman Fighting Cardinals vs. Marathon Red Raiders

The Newman Fighting Cardinals will take on the Marathon Red Raiders in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Newman came up short against Auburndale and fell 55-42. The Fighting Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Apaches recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, Marathon escaped with a win on Tuesday against Stratford by the margin of a single free throw, 62-61.

Newman's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Marathon, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Newman took a serious blow against Marathon when the teams last played back in January, falling 83-42. Can Newman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
