Softball Recap: Lake Roosevelt Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lake Roosevelt and Okanogan meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Raiders blew past the Bulldogs 11-4. Considering the Raiders have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Presley Steffens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor Vargas-Thomas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juel Swager, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lake Roosevelt pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Okanogan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake Roosevelt beat Okanogan by a score of 13-3 on Thursday.
