Football Recap: Pflugerville Panthers vs. Leander Lions
Pflugerville took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They blew past the Leander Lions 54-28. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 48-28 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pflugerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Taylor, who threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Rhyder Miller helped Taylor out on the ground, rushing for 160 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 34 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Leander still got an impressive performance from Zane Wooldridge, who picked up 214 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Logan Mitchell, who threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Pflugerville is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they take on Hays at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leander, they will venture away from home to face off against Hendrickson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leander is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
