Softball Recap: Red River Takes Down Ranked Sheyenne

Red River faced Sheyenne in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Roughriders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Roughriders have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The win was the sixth in a row for Red River, bringing their record up to 9-6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Sheyenne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Red River will be playing at home against Devils Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Roughriders are facing the Firebirds at the right time seeing as the Firebirds are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Sheyenne, they will square off against Shanley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
