Basketball Game Preview: Weslaco Panthers vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders

Weslaco is a perfect 7-0 against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Panthers will face off against the Raiders at 9:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Weslaco's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Weslaco really gets things going. The Panthers claimed a resounding 76-49 win over Pace. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Michael Fuentes and Kai L Fino were among the main playmakers for Weslaco as the former shot 54% from the field en route to 21 points and the latter went 8-for-12 to rack up 17 points. Fuentes is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Brode Lopez was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Weslaco smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North beat La Feria 66-56 on Tuesday.

Weslaco better keep an eye on Mason Lopez. He was instrumental in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's win, shooting 57% from the field on his way to 28 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Howard, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points and four steals.

Weslaco's record now sits at 2-0. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their record is now an identical 2-0.
