It was a good run, but Arizona College Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their 18-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Desert Mountain Wolves, falling 8-1. The Knights were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Wolves' pitcher proved too tough.

Ava Moynihan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Arizona College Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Sherman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Arizona College Prep's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 20-4. As for Desert Mountain, they pushed their record up to 21-1-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

While Arizona College Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
