Baseball Recap: Dos Palos Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Dos Palos proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 30) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Mendota Aztecs 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Broncos have posted since March 1st.

Gilbert Ramirez made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Dos Palos' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Dos Palos let Tevin Clay and Chaz Merrell run wild. Clay scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Merrell scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Dos Palos' victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Mendota, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dos Palos will welcome Tranquillity at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mendota, they will host Coalinga at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Horned Toads will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
