Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Gets the Win

Roosevelt hadn't done well against Allen Park recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bears skirted past the Jaguars 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 two weeks ago.

Connor Bedo was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Bedo wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zack Hoffman, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Peyton Webster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Roosevelt's record now sits at 8-11. As for Allen Park, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 13-6-1 record.

Coming up, Roosevelt will welcome Taylor at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Allen Park, they will face off against Trenton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
