Basketball Recap: Immanuel Kelly Key Part of Team Effort in Stingrays Win

Sumner won the last time they faced Lennard and things went their way on Friday too. The Stingrays walked away with a 62-49 win over the Longhorns.

Sumner's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Immanuel Kelly, who almost dropped a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Kelly is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Karson Coleman was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Sumner was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up six more assists than Lennard's also-impressive total of 13.

When it comes to explaining why Lennard lost, don't look at Noah Jorden. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 en route to 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nathan Jorden, who posted six points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Sumner now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lennard, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Sumner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-52 loss against Clearwater on the 28th. As for Lennard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-45 defeat against Booker on the 1st.
