Baseball Recap: Chico Picks Up 19th Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and Chico had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Pleasant Valley Vikings 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.

Chico got a great performance from Vinny Boatwright as he pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Boatwright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chico's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Horn, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another was Alex Schukei, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Chico hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Valley struck out seven times.

Chico pushed their record up to 26-1 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-15 record this season.
