Basketball Recap: Norwayne's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

It was fun while it lasted, but Norwayne's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Saturday. They lost 64-40 to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees. The matchup marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Defeat or not, Norwayne got some senior leadership from Tyson Hess and Parker Metsker. Hess posted 14 points and seven rebounds, while Metsker earned seven points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Metsker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden West, who put up nine points.

Even though they lost, Norwayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Norwayne fell to 7-1. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norwayne will host Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Norwayne is facing Northwestern at the right time seeing as Northwestern is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Royalton at 7:30 p.m. North Royalton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Brecksville-Broadview Heights likes a good challenge.
