Basketball Game Preview: Stanwood Spartans vs. Everett Seagulls

The Stanwood Spartans will head out to square off against the Everett Seagulls at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Stanwood has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three matches.

Last Friday, Stanwood blew past Monroe, posting a 74-27 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Bearcats are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-12, which was the final score in Everett's tilt against Snohomish on Friday. The contest marked the Seagulls' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Stanwood pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.9 points. As for Everett, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Stanwood came up short against Everett when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 50-39. Can Stanwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
