Basketball Game Preview: Fountain Valley Danes vs. Peyton Panthers

Fountain Valley hasn't had much luck against Peyton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fountain Valley Danes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Peyton Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Fountain Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Peyton likes a good challenge.

Back in December of 2024, Fountain Valley was fully in charge, breezing past Monument Academy 74-3. Fans of the Danes have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Nick Prantl went supernova for Fountain Valley, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave Prantl a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Leo Lu, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards.

Meanwhile, Peyton came up short against Strasburg on Tuesday, falling 77-53. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Indians are ranked seventh).

Peyton's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Fountain Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
