Columbia extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 15-7 in the process. Everything went their way against the Andrews Osborne Academy Phoenix as they made off with a 23-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 12 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Sadie Schulke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Schulke was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other pitching news, Alina Jones looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Columbia got a massive performance out of Bree Heidecker, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with ten RBI, three doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Heidecker has posted since back in April. Grace Anderson was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and five RBI.
Columbia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andrews Osborne Academy struck out ten times.
As for Andrews Osborne Academy, they moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but Columbia's pitchers proved too tough.
On Andrews Osborne Academy's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alle Royer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As of now, neither Columbia nor the Phoenix have any future games scheduled.
