Basketball Game Preview: United Longhorns vs. Clark Cougars

The United Longhorns will take on the Clark Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. United knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Clark likes a good challenge.

United saw some tournament action on Saturday. They skirted past United South 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Longhorns have posted against the Panthers since February 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, Clark was able to grind out a solid victory over Canyon on Tuesday, taking the game 53-43. Given Clark's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Canyon is ranked 540th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

United's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Clark, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

United came up short against Clark in their previous matchup back in November, falling 62-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clark's Kristian Burgan, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 20 points. Now that United knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
