Baseball Recap: Mitchell Takes a Loss

Mitchell extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-8 in the process. They lost 12-3 to the Northeast Dubois Jeeps. The Bluejackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jeeps apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Mitchell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Felton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Northeast Dubois, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. Considering they have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Northeast Dubois' side, Carter Fuhs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits. Fuhs also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Jeeps are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Beck, who went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Sheetz, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Mitchell will head out on the road to challenge North Daviess at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Northeast Dubois, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Knox at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jeeps are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
