Hazelwood East gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 45-0 win over the Hazelwood West Wildcats. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Wildcats are ranked 227th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans are set to square off against their familiar foe Parkway Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hazelwood West will face off against rival Webster Groves at 6:00 p.m. on September 5.
