Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Bishop Brossart's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Bishop Brossart came out on top against Bryan Station on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Mustangs took their match against the Defenders 9-4. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 7-0 victory the Defenders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Ben Volmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Volmer was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Isaac Amin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Luke Neltner, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Bishop Brossart is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Bryan Station, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-15.

Coincidentally, Bishop Brossart and Bryan Station will both be playing Lexington Catholic the next time they take the field. The Defenders will host the Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 1:30 p.m.
