Baseball Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Culver Community Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Caston will face off against Culver Community. The Comets will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Caston is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Caston gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Culver Community 17-1. Considering the Comets have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Harness made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Logan Mollenkopf was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Woolever, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Caston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Culver Community only posted a batting average of .125.

Caston's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Culver Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Culver Community's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Caston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316.
