Soccer Game Preview: Donna vs. Rivera

The Donna Redskins will head out to square off against the Rivera Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Donna has given up an average of 5.3 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Donna and Donna North meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Redskins lost 5-0 to the Chiefs. While losing is never fun, Donna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 675th, while Donna North are ranked 248th).

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Rivera's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lopez by a score of 3-2.

Rivera's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Donna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Donna suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Rivera when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
