Recap: Roxana Shells vs. Breese Central Cougars
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three games, the Roxana Shells finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a serious blow against Breese Central, falling 59-25. Roxana has not had much luck with Breese Central recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Roxana's loss came despite strong showings from Evan Wells and Sean Maberry. Wells scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Maberry scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. Maberry has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.
Roxana's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Breese Central, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.
Roxana will head out on the road to face off against Gillespie at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Gillespie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 655th, while Roxana is ranked 235th). As for Breese Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Highland at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th.
