Football Game Preview: Skyline Eagles vs. Summit Academy Dragons

The Skyline Eagles will take on the Summit Academy Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Skyline turned things around against Marlette on Friday. They walked away with a 29-22 victory over the Red Raiders.

Among those leading the charge was Gideon Starkweather, who rushed for 55 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 77 yards and one touchdown on only six passes.

Meanwhile, Summit Academy humbled Voyageur Academy with a 40-6 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Skyline better keep an eye on Everet Roberts. He was instrumental in Summit Academy's win, rushing for 146 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Roberts a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Oween Sudduth, who threw for 84 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Summit Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 91.8 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 174.3.

Summit Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kris King and Jacob Boykins. King has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last three times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Skyline's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Summit Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
