Basketball Game Preview: Bethlehem Central Eagles vs. Averill Park Warriors

Bethlehem Central is 1-9 against Averill Park since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bethlehem Central Eagles will challenge the Averill Park Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Bethlehem Central will be strutting in after a victory while Averill Park will be coming in after a loss.

Bethlehem Central is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake: they outscored them in every quarter. Bethlehem Central took down Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 54-36 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Spartans are ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Averill Park fought the good fight in their overtime game against Colonie Central on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bethlehem Central's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Averill Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Bethlehem Central suffered a grim 62-39 defeat to Averill Park when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Bethlehem Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
