Baseball Recap: Beech Buccaneers vs. Clarksville Wildcats
Beech had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 17-15 to make it four. They lost 10-3 to the Clarksville Wildcats. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Jackson Kennedy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Wyatt Davis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
As for Clarksville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 25-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.
On Clarksville's side, Porter Murff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Murff has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Wyatt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirk Weatherford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
