Softball Recap: Madonna Continues Home Dominance on Monday

There's no place like home for Madonna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past the Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees 16-4 on Monday. Considering the Blue Dons have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendall Ryan made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madi Owens was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Conley, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Madonna lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Madonna's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Clay-Battelle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Madonna nor Clay-Battelle have any future games scheduled.
