Weslaco East is a perfect 7-0 against Mercedes since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Weslaco East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Weslaco East will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Juarez-Lincoln on Friday. Everything went Weslaco East's way against Juarez-Lincoln as Weslaco East made off with a 19-3 win. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Weslaco East let Adrian Guzman and James Abrego run wild. Guzman scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Abrego scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Guzman a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Solis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Weslaco East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Mercedes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Donna.

Mercedes' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Weslaco East, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Weslaco East's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. Weslaco East has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mercedes, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Weslaco East continue to outrun the ball?

Weslaco East skirted past Mercedes 5-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Weslaco East repeat their success, or does Mercedes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
