Basketball Game Preview: Lemon Bay Manta Rays vs. Sarasota Sailors

Two dominant guards in Maya Collins and Paisley Binswanger are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lemon Bay Manta Rays will square off against the Sarasota Sailors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Lemon Bay is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Venice 65-30. The game marked the Manta Rays' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Sarasota lost to Port Charlotte on the road by a 57-38 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Pirates are ranked 67th).

Lemon Bay's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Sarasota, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Everything came up roses for Lemon Bay against Sarasota in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 59-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lemon Bay since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
