Softball Game Preview: Palmerton Blue Bombers vs. Jim Thorpe Olympians

The Palmerton Blue Bombers will challenge the Jim Thorpe Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Palmerton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Palmerton got the win against Jim Thorpe by a conclusive 15-3. Considering the Blue Bombers have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

HAILEY BARRY made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. BARRY was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, LEAH PRUTZMAN was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of MIKAYLA PENGELLY, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Palmerton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jim Thorpe only posted an OBP of .227.

Palmerton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jim Thorpe, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
