Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Hendricken Hawks vs. Bishop Feehan Shamrocks

The Bishop Hendricken Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Bishop Feehan Shamrocks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bishop Hendricken 2.8, Bishop Feehan 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bishop Hendricken is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cumberland, who was ranked third at the time (Bishop Hendricken was ranked first). The Hawks fell just short of the Clippers by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 14, 2024.

Dylan Poloski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Bishop Hendricken saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Crain, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bishop Feehan came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Hornets. Four seems to be a good number for the Shamrocks as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jack Gasse tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

Bishop Feehan pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Hendricken, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-3.
