While St. Augustine didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Warren Easton Fighting Eagles on Friday as the St. Augustine Purple Knights made off with a 14-3 win. Considering the Purple Knights have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tariq Davis looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kenyon Hughes, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of St. Augustine's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Channing Cornelius Jr. was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

St. Augustine's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Warren Easton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, St. Augustine will square off against John Curtis Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Warren Easton, they will take on McDonogh 35 at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. McDonogh 35 has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Warren Easton will no doubt try to take advantage of.
