Brookville is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Indian Lake is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Blue Devils will welcome the Lakers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Brookville proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Madison.
Rylan Eagle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kate Haydon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Nora Dunkle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Brookville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 15 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Indian Lake gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Benjamin Logan 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lakers have posted against the Raiders since April 26, 2023.
Indian Lake let Izzi Mackesy and Brylee Buyer run wild. Mackesy went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Buyer went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That triple marked the first that Mackesy has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Indian Lake's win bumped their record up to 11-15. As for Brookville, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.
