Football Game Preview: Cedar Creek Cougars vs. Haynesville Golden Tornado

Cedar Creek hasn't had much luck against Haynesville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Golden Tornado at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cedar Creek challenged Plain Dealing on Friday. The Cougars took their game with ease, bagging a 60-6 win over the Lions. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Haynesville's strategy against Jonesboro-Hodge on Thursday. The Golden Tornado's defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 43-0 shutout. Given the Golden Tornado's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Tigers are ranked 227th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cedar Creek's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Haynesville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Cedar Creek was dealt a bruising 52-8 defeat at the hands of Haynesville when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
