Baseball Game Preview: West Craven Eagles vs. Greene Central Rams

The West Craven Eagles will take on the Greene Central Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for West Craven's offense. They came up short against Greene Central on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

For Greene Central's part, Sutton Harris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Harris a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Greene Central is undefeated when Harris posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Elijah Monroe and Will Radford did most of the damage at the plate: Monroe scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Radford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI. Monroe is becoming a predictor of Greene Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Riley Radford, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Greene Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory (which was Greene Central's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for West Craven, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
