Football Recap: Sebring Takes a Loss

Sebring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 41-6 loss at the hands of the Strawberry Crest Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Blue Streaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Chargers are ranked 46th).

Adrianna Maldonado threw for 80 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Ward was her top target, picking up 72 receiving yards and one TD.

A big part of Strawberry Crest's victory came down to the chemistry between Zoe Surrency and her top target Sonnie Hartman. Surrency threw for 235 yards and five touchdowns while completing 77.3% of her passes while Hartman picked up 83 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Surrency a new career-high in passer rating (150.6).

Sebring's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Strawberry Crest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3.

Sebring wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-0 loss against Gulf on the 5th. As for Strawberry Crest, they will welcome Newsome at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves' defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so the Chargers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
