Softball Recap: Madison Southern Has No Trouble Against Jackson County

Madison Southern gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on the Jackson County Generals with a sharp 12-2 win. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.

Kayley Goss made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lexie Keener was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Taylor Reeves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory got Madison Southern back to even at 2-2. As for Jackson County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Coming up, Madison Southern will square off against Western Hills at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson County, they will be playing at home against Muhlenberg County at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
