Recap: Pine Prairie Panthers vs. Northwest Raiders
This season hasn't been kind to The Pine Prairie Panthers, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They took a serious blow against Northwest on Friday, falling 42-6. Pine Prairie lost against Northwest in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 36-33 score last time.
Ashton Deville threw for 29 yards on four of 11 attempts.
Among those leading the charge was Cameron Lazard, who picked up 64 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Pine Prairie's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Tioga and 6-2 Oberlin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.8% over those games). As for Northwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Prairie's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mamou at 7:00 p.m. on October 26th. Mamou comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Northwest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ville Platte at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
