Softball Recap: Serena Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Serena proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Huskers, who have now won ten games in a row.

Maddie Glade spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Serena's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was RayElle Brennan, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Serena pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for LaSalle-Peru, they moved to 27-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 22-game winning streak.

Coming up, Serena will head out on the road to face off against Nazareth Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for LaSalle-Peru, they will challenge Geneseo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maple Leafs have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
