The Morrison Mustangs will challenge the Galena Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Morrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Morrison got the win against Polo by a conclusive 16-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Collin Renkes was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jacob Reed, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Morrison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Galena came up short against Byron on Saturday, falling 17-2.

Morrison's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Galena, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Morrison came out on top in a nail-biter against Galena in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
