5A East Metro recap Oct. 23, 2012
Brighton extended the longest winning streak in 5A East Metro this week by beating Northglenn, 69-48. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Prairie View took down Lincoln 49-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Norsemen's dynamic duo of Jordan Radebaugh and Ken Heard proved tough for Brighton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Radebaugh threw for 512 yards and four touchdowns and Heard had 208 yards receiving. Eddie Franco helped Northglenn's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 143 yards.
Nicholas Garcia was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 216 yards on 18 carries as Pat Sandoval's team fell to Pat Sandoval's team. Teammate Tommy Cruz added to the ground attack by rushing for 83 yards.
Scott Gallas' team's Radebaugh and Franco have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Radebaugh has thrown for 1995 yards this season, while Franco, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 33 catches for 701 yards. Thornton's Keynan Huguley leads the league in rushing yards with 1636.
The Lancers' J.d. Rosales needs only 73 yards against the Bulldogs next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Rosales has rushed for 927 yards on 186 carries so far this year.
The Norsemen's Radebaugh is within five passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Westminster.
A big matchup in 5A East Metro this week will be when the Thunderhawks take on the Trojans. Prairie View is currently in fourth, while Thornton is in second.
Brighton led the league in scoring this week after putting up 69 points on Northglenn. Ethan Trujillo threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
